RFQ Code: WFL-RFQ-004
THEME: Preventive Healthcare & Inclusive Well-being
SDG GOAL: SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Labourers working in industries like construction and agriculture often face high exposure to dust, sunlight, and hazardous conditions, making them especially vulnerable to vision-related health issues. Limited access to eye care services means that conditions like refractive errors and cataracts often go undiagnosed and untreated, affecting both quality of life and economic productivity. The Eye Screening Program addresses this gap by conducting free eye screening camps near labour-intensive work sites. The project includes comprehensive eye exams, distribution of free prescription glasses, and awareness sessions on maintaining eye health. By partnering with expert organisations for eyewear support, the program provides practical, on-the-spot solutions and promotes long-term community awareness. This holistic initiative ensures that vulnerable working populations are not left behind in preventive healthcare services.
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
1. Conduct eye screening camps at or near construction sites, estates, and labour colonies
2. Use certified optometrists and mobile diagnostic tools for vision testing
3. Distribute free reading and prescription glasses to those diagnosed with refractive errors
4. Partner with foundations to ensure quality eyewear supply
5. Run awareness campaigns on eye health and the importance of regular screenings
IMPACT:
Improves vision, productivity, and quality of life for labourers; reduces risk of long-term vision loss and raises awareness of eye care across the community.
